《The Ocean at The End Of the Lane》读后感

 

Sypnosis

A middle-aged man returns to his childhood home to attend a funeral. Although the house he lived in is long gone, he is drawn to the farm at the end of the road, where, when he was seven, he encountered a most remarkable girl, Lettie Hempstock, and her mother and grandmother. He hasn't thought of Lettie in decades, and yet as he sits by the pond (a pond that she'd claimed was an ocean) behind the ramshackle old farmhouse, the unremembered past comes flooding back. And it is a past too strange, too frightening, too dangerous to have happened to anyone, let alone a small boy. 

前期算是蛮慢热的回忆，我都有点怀疑这本真的是fantasy题材吗？到偏中段才开始有显示到奇幻的地方。

看到故事的时候主角童年时期被异世界的存在Haunt，它在主角身上开了通往现实世界的“门”。并且试图迷惑人类以逐渐入侵这个世界。不过描写的时候感觉主角很想做了一场很长的Fever Dream，隐喻着主角遭受到父亲的暴力(Child Abuse)，撞破父亲和保姆(异世界存在"幻化"的女性人类)的婚外情等等。究竟是童年时期为了自我保护而浪漫化的事情抑或是真实有异世界存在威胁着主角呢？我们不得而知。

Hempstock家族表面上看起来是当地的农家，家里的男人都出门赚钱。但实际上却是守护着世界边界的家族。族人从“大洋”里出生，她们并没有死亡的概念，而是回归“大洋”，并且只有女性。
